It will take 3.95 hours to download a 100 megabyte file on a computer that can download 56 kilobits per second.
b. (5 megabits/sec) x (1 byte/8 bits) = 5/8 MB/sec = 0.625 MB/sec
(1.6 sec/MB) x 100 MB = 160 sec = 2.66 min
It will take 2.66 minutes to download a 100 megabyte file on a computer that can download 5 megabits per second.
c. (10 megabits/sec) x (1 byte/8 bits) = 10/8 MB/sec = 1.25 MB/sec
(0.8 sec/MB) x 100 MB = 80 sec = 1.33 min
It will take 1.33 minutes to download a 100 megabyte file on a computer that can download 10 megabits per second.
4. (3 megabits/sec) x (1 byte/8 bits) = 3/8 MB/second
3/8 MB/sec = 8/3 sec/MB = 0.375 MB/sec
(0.375 MB/sec) x 60 MB = 22.5 sec
(60 sec/min) x (60 minutes/hr) = 3600 sec/hr
(3600 sec/hr) / (22.5 sec/MP3) = 160 MP3/hr
It will take 22.5 seconds to upload a 60 megabyte MP3, thus a computer that uploads 3 megabits per second can upload 160, 60 megabyte MP3s in an hour.
